SCA commended by UN coalition
SCA has been commended for its “high-quality sustainability report” by the UN Global Compact’s investor coalition.
The company has been a part of the United Nations Global Compact - the world’s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative - since 2008. It was singled out for commendation among 5,000 company participants from more than 120 countries.
According to Gordana Landen, SCA's senior vice president for human resources: “SCA’s corporate social responsibility strategy is built around our Code of Conduct and aligned with our core values of respect, excellence and responsibility.
“This exclusive tribute is in recognition for all the sustainability work, both environmental and social, that is being done within SCA and by those working with us from the business groups such as the CSR reference group and the global reporting initiative team.”
Under the Global Compact’s principles, companies must respect internationally-proclaimed human rights; uphold freedoms of association and collective bargaining, and promote greater environmental responsibility.
Christina Ameln, currently working as CSR director at SCA’s head office in Stockholm, said: “Global Compact - and the recognition - gives a boost to SCA and shows that we are a truly sound company, not only financially but also socially.”
