SCA responds to Australian flood crisis
SCA has been helping to ensure that essential supplies reach the victims of the devastating floods in Queensland, Australia, over the past few weeks.
The company has been working with Foodbank Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that collects and distributes grocery items to welfare agencies, and has been helping to co-ordinate the delivery of goods to the affected areas.
Many roads in the flood-hit region have remained blocked and impassable for several weeks which means that communities have had to live without essential supplies.
SCA has donated more than £30,000 worth of toilet paper, nappies and feminine hygiene products to the crisis-hit region.
SCA has a long history of responding swiftly to natural disasters and other international crises as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
Last September the company donated wiping products worth more than £126,000 to Gifts In Kind International to help clean up after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
And in early 2010 SCA made a cash donation of more than £30,000 to victims of the earthquake that devastated Haiti’s capital city Port-au-Prince.
