Tork cuts the cost of sick days
Effective, user-friendly hygiene systems such as Tork washroom solutions can help reduce the cost of sick days at work.
And by supplying long-lasting soap and hand towel systems that maximise hygiene, businesses can potentially save money on staff absenteeism.
“In 2008 the average member of staff averaged 7.4 days absent from work due to sickness at a total cost to companies of around £692 per employee,” said SCA product and segment manager Charlotte Branwhite.
“This means that in a company staffed by 100 people, the cost of sick days would be nearly £70,000 per year. In the current economic climate keeping absenteeism to a minimum is one way of keeping overall costs in check.”
Easy-to-use systems such as the Tork foam soap dispenser will encourage good hand washing practices, says Charlotte. The dispenser contains 2,500 shots of soap so it is unlikely to run out between maintenance checks.
Where there is a plentiful supply of soap in an easy-to-use dispenser, there is a lower risk of unwashed hands leaving bacteria and viruses behind on frequently-touched objects which could, in turn, result in absences from work.
Soap should be supplied in sealed cartridges rather than in “bulk-fill” containers where the soap could be contaminated before use. A recent study carried out at the University of Arizona revealed that 25 per cent of bulk refillable soap dispensers contained unsafe levels of bacteria.
“Keeping the hands clean is vital in the workplace to keep staff healthy since large numbers of people may be sharing desks, phones, computers and washrooms,” said Charlotte.
“By providing user-friendly soaps in hygienic systems – along with soft, absorbent hand towels to encourage thorough hand drying – days off sick can be kept to a minimum.”
