Tork interfold dispenser napkins now even more sustainable
Changes to Tork interfold dispenser napkins are set to make the system more sustainable than ever.
The napkins will soon be compressed so that each box contains up to 33 per cent more napkins.
“This is a huge advantage to the customer, since more napkins per box means less packaging and less space required to store them,” said SCA product and segment manager Julie Ray.
“At the same time it is a major sustainability benefit since fewer lorries are required to transport the same number of napkins.
“Another advantage is that one entire bundle of Tork dispenser napkins will fit into the Tork tabletop dispenser. This means there will be no surplus napkins to store after refilling, and the system can be refilled less frequently.”
Alongside these changes, the packaging for Tork interfold napkin refills has been redesigned to make the boxes easier to open and carry.
The new box has a perforated flap to which tape is attached, which means a knife is no longer required to open It. Handles have been cut into the boxes so they can be carried comfortably when full, and transported in bulk when empty and flattened.
Tork interfold napkin dispensers are designed to give out napkins one at a time instead of in clumps, which can occur with traditional napkin dispensers.
“Trials have shown that catering outlets can cut their napkin consumption by 25 per cent by switching to the Tork interfold napkin dispenser,” said Julie.
“Fewer napkins used and less waste produced is a big sustainability benefit in terms of raw materials and energy usage, as well as in waste disposal costs.”
