Tork stages its first ever Hygiene Week
The first ever Tork Hygiene Week aimed to draw the public’s attention to the need for thorough hand drying as well as hand washing.
The theme of the week was "Wipe Them Dry” and a comprehensive online information kit was made available to facilities managers, employers, employees, families, teachers and healthcare professionals.
“Washing with liquid soap helps to remove most harmful germs - but not all of them,” said SCA Tissue Europe’s UK and Ireland marketing director Jenny Turner. “Germs love moist hands so if we forget to dry them effectively the remaining germs on our hands will rapidly multiply.
“Thorough washing and drying can remove up to 99 per cent of all germs which means that clean, dry hands are safe hands.”
The “Wipe Them Dry” online information kit contains facts and figures about handwashing and drying plus tips on simple changes that can be made to reduce the risk of sickness. The kit also includes detailed handwashing instructions plus aids for teachers on how to alert pupils to the dangers of poor hand hygiene.
“We would all prefer to avoid catching colds and flu if possible, and thorough hand washing and drying are both major factors in the fight against infections and viruses,” said Jenny. “The more people who are made aware of the link between good hand hygiene and good health, the better.”
Also available as part of the “Wipe Them Dry” toolkit are downloadable posters, mirror-cling stickers and a leaflet to spread the hand hygiene message. If you would like any of these, please contact Customer Services.
