Tork switches to recycled alternative
Tork Premium folded toilet paper is to be made from recycled paper instead of virgin fibres from this summer onwards.
The change to the product is being made in response to customer demand, says SCA Tissue Europe product and market manager Julie Ray.
“Virgin fibres are just as sustainable as recycled tissue provided they come from forests that have been managed in a responsible way,” said Julie. “But not everyone understands this, and some customers still feel more comfortable using recycled products.
“We have now discovered a way of switching Tork Premium folded toilet paper to a recycled alternative without compromising on quality in any way. In trials we have already received very positive comments from customers.”
Around 50 per cent of SCA’s European tissue products are made from recycled fibres. SCA is committed to the use of both recycled and virgin fibres. SCA’s forests have been certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and every tree felled on SCA’s land is replaced by three more, either by natural regeneration or planting.
Two-ply white Tork Premium folded toilet paper can be housed either in a Tork Elevation dispenser or the Tork Aluminium dispenser.
