SCA in Global 100 sustainability list a fifth time
Tork manufacturer SCA has appeared in the list of the world’s most sustainable corporations for the fifth year running.
This means that SCA – the only tissue company to feature in the list - has been named as a Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporation each year since the scheme’s inception.
“Naturally it is a great honour that SCA for the fifth consecutive year qualifies as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies,” says Patrik Isaksson, vice-president environmental affairs at SCA. “It is also an acknowledgement of the comprehensive and long-term work we put into environmental and sustainability issues, an effort than continues undiminished.”
More than 30 companies that featured in the 2008 list have now been dropped including Marks & Spencer and the Royal Bank of Scotland. New additions include Amazon.com and the London Stock Exchange.
SCA and sustainability
The Global 100, initiated by Corporate Knights Inc. with Innovest as the exclusive research provider, includes companies from 15 countries that are evaluated on how effectively they deal with various environmental and social aspects.
SCA has received a high number of third-party accolades for its sustainability over recent years. In June 07 the company was named the world’s second greenest company in the Green Leaders Global Top Ten, published by the Independent newspaper in conjunction with Ethical Investment Research Services.
And in 2006, SCA featured in the Vigeo Excellence Index for the paper and forestry sector.
