At SCA, Life Cycle Assessment is our tool of choice for monitoring the environmental impact of our products.
We first introduced Life Cycle Assessment the 1990s, long before the recent wave of interest in climate change and the environment. LCA provides a complete picture of a product’s environmental profile and of where and how impact occurs.
We look at every stage of our products’ life cycle to assess where improvements can be made. For example, we consider how to secure environmentally-sound pulp and how to reduce energy in our production processes.
We make sure that we manage our forests in a sustainable way and we continuously improve our environmental profile by reducing raw material consumption and waste.
SCA Group is actively working on reducing carbon emissions and water 
consumption in our production facilities. And all our factories are either certified according to the international environmental management standard ISO 14001 or preparing for certification.
We create sustainable products and services through focus on 
innovation, product safety and continuous environmental improvements. Over the years SCA has been repeatedly recognised by independent ethical and sustainability bodies for its environmental efforts.
