Council uses 'first rate systems' from Tork
The Tork Advanced Hand Towel Roll and Tork Compact Auto Shift are both “first rate systems” according to Erewash Borough Council’s senior caretaker Phil Chapman.
The Derbyshire council uses Tork in the town hall and finance offices at its Ilkeston site. The two Tork systems will soon also be installed at the council’s other town hall at Longeaton.
“I think these systems are absolutely brilliant,” said Phil. “The dispensers are so easy to operate – they practically do everything for you. We used to use C-fold hand towels but the Tork hand towel roll is a lot more user-friendly. It also eliminates the problem of people taking out more towels than they need.”
Another benefit is the fact that the long-lasting Tork hand towel roll only needs to be changed around once a week whereas the council’s C-fold towels needed topping up daily, said Phil. The Tork Compact Auto Shift is also longer-lasting than the council’s previous toilet roll systems, which ranged from folded toilet paper to conventional toilet rolls and mini-jumbo rolls.
“With the Tork Compact Auto Shift it doesn’t matter if the roll runs out – there is always a spare,” said Phil. “The cleaners think both Tork systems are marvellous, and I think they will save us money as time goes on since people are using less and cleaners are taking less time refilling the dispensers.”
Both Tork systems minimise the risk of cross-contamination since each sheet is touched only by the user. This maintains a high level of hygiene and reduces the risk of absenteeism due to sickness, which is another cost benefit. The fact that the rolls are locked inside the dispensers also helps to prevent the problem of pilferage.
