Last year showed us all how important the often-invisible work of facilities managers really is – none of us could do our work without you doing yours. On World FM Day 2021, we recognize and honor you for meeting the challenge of helping keep us safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From all of us, thank you!
Every May, we recognize the critical work facility managers do to keep buildings efficient, comfortable, and safer. This last year, your work has been more critical than ever, and we want to extend our gratitude for the incredible endurance, flexibility, and courage you’ve shown. As your work changes post-pandemic, know that we’re here to support you in your important mission.

When employees begin returning to the workplace, they’ll expect very different sanitation and hygiene standards. Here’s what we learned about changing public expectations from a survey Essity, owner of the Tork brand, conducted last year.*
More concern about public cleanliness
7 out of 10 people feel more unsafe going to facilities with unhygienic public restrooms today.
More public scrutiny about hygiene
80% said they expect public restrooms to provide a safe hygiene environment to a higher extent now than before the outbreak.
Hygiene is now a public safety issue
81% believe keeping a high hygiene standard in public restrooms is critical to public safety.
Towels are preferred over air driers
57% of people prefer paper hand towels to air dryers.
We’re here to help – download your toolkit!
In our Office Building Toolkit, we share our expertise on how to ensure a high level of hygiene through proper hand hygiene and surface cleaning. We also include recommendations on social distancing and how to reduce person-to-person transmission at the workplace. You’ll find concrete guidelines for when and how to wash hands, when and how to clean and sanitize all surfaces, as well as how to keep hand washing stations filled with hygiene products that are easy to use and access.
